Scottish & Newcastle is expected to reveal plans to close its flagship 150-year oldFountain Brewery in Edinburgh at a staff meeting 17.02.04.

This is the last major industry in Edinburgh’s central area and will create interest for developers, especially with proximity to the Lochrin Basin – Fountainbridge development Edinburgh Quay.

The theatre building opened in 1929 as a super-cinema, and was modelled on the Roxy Cinema in New York. It was designed by the specialist cinema architect John Fairweather, most famous for his Green’s Playhouse cinema in Glasgow.
