Stirling Parliament
RIAS announced 27.07.05 that the Scottish Parliament - as expected - is shortlisted for the Stirling Prize

Shortlist - Buildings:
Bennetts Associates Brighton Library
EMBT/RMJM Scottish Parliament
Zaha Hadid BMW Central Building in Leipzig
Foster and Partners McLaren Technology Centre
O'Donnell + Tuomey's Lewis Gluckman Gallery in Cork
Alsop Designs Fawood Children's Centre

Early favourites vary wildly: the AJ state Bennetts are outsiders whilst BD state Bennetts' library is the bookies favourite. In fact Readabet's initial odds show it equal with Foster's McLaren building. No mention of the Scottish Parliament, except BD's Ellis Woodman who tips it for the Prize. Confused?!

Scotsman's Spoiler by Glendinning: "set-piece "signature" buildings like the new Scottish Parliament have had their day......One can be sure there are more egregious icons on the way - each one completely different and new, yet all alike. We in Scotland, however, are relatively lucky, as there's still relatively few of them. Thus we can still pull back from the brink".
