The registration period for Europan 8 Architecture Competition commences on 7 Mar 2005. Edinburgh Contemporary Architecture campaigned in 2003 / 2004 for UK sites to be included in this current Europan and CABE announced early 2005 that UK sites will now be included. This year’s RIAS Sketch Design Competition (£6,000) for architects resident in Scotland, is for a dynamic structure for the Underground and Bus Station interchange, with new offices and retail opportunities in Govan, or a site for housing/mixed use between the transport hub and the Clyde ferry point.

Fraser Brown MacKenna Architects was the only firm of architects to receive an award in 2004 from the National Home Improvement Council. Their project for the Port of Leith Housing Association at Ronaldson’s Wharf (with Dignan Read Dewar) won a commendation in the Best Brownfield/Recycled Building category. ‘The waterfront block of this three-phase development recently featured on Scottish Television’
