The chairman of the Scottish Arts Council, James Boyle, called for an end to the enduring divide between Edinburgh and Glasgow and suggested a strategic policy to develop new landmark buildings.

The Scotsman reported last week: that the Scottish minister of culture, “Mike Watson (or Lord Watson, as he is south of the Border), waxed lyrical at the Edinburgh Book Festival on the Executive’s strategy for architecture. Alas, it transpired the minister was unable to name any living Scottish architects”. Surprised?!
