Royal Dimbleby
More Carbuncle attacks as David Dimbleby has a bash at that favourite target the Scottish Parliament. Apparently it looks to him like a 'spanish airport' (now who said that previously?). He also mocked it for not looking "Scottish", easy to say, but David what exactly is an appropriate contemporary Scottish architectural language and how can you define this?

Jenny Dawe Diatribe
First the pre-election statements, then the outbursts, followed by an aj article and then a letter in the aj from Robert Adam attacking ‘nonsensical Modernist dogma’. The apparent movement driven by the new political set-up in Edinburgh development is rather more complicated than the old context/non-context chestnut. Some may be heartened by the safeguarding of Meadowbank Stadium and attacks on the Caltongate proposals but others will worry that major schemes such as the Haymarket Interchange are now under the spotlight and that could create jitters. Also, with the Sighthill stadium and a proper velodrome seemingly abandoned can the decrepit Meadowbank (shorn of various adjacent facilities) really provide an appropriate focus for track and field in the 21st century?

Langlands & Bell Lecture

Their work is often architectural with the most architectonic works being reliefs of building plans ‘ ‘Logoworks’ series - where the base plane is generally a storey below the surrounding coloured ground. These are strong pieces which subtly emphasise company’s power, globalization and branding. The selection of buildings ranged from those with strong branded plans, eg the BMW Tower in Munich, to those simply with interesting plans, such as Millbank Penitentiary shaped like a flower or ‘The Serpent’ housing state on the edge of Paris.
