CALA Receives Approval for Three Major City Developments with a Value of £130 Million

Edinburgh-based CALA Homes received committee approval for two major residential developments in Edinburgh today (Wednesday 29th March) including one on the highly sought-after site currently occupied by the Scottish Agricultural Science Agency (SASA).

The leading developer was also granted permission for a third significant development in the city last week. Together, the developments have a sales value in excess of £130 million.

CALA is to build 277 homes on the SASA site which is located in East Craigs, near Corstorphine, and four miles west of Edinburgh city centre. The CALA Homes development will be ideally placed near to the new Royal Bank of Scotland global headquarters at Gogar and the amenities of the Gyle Shopping Centre.

CALA Homes was also given permission for 79 homes at Pinkhill in Corstorphine on the site of the former National Air Traffic Services (NATS) office building. The site is excellently placed with views of Edinburgh Castle, the Pentland Hills and the adjacent Carricknowe Golf Course.

Last Wednesday (22nd March), CALA also received the green light for a contemporary development featuring 89 homes at East Fettes Avenue on the site of the former Christian Salvesen offices which faces south towards Edinburgh Castle.

Each CALA Homes development includes an element of affordable housing.

Gerry More, Managing Director, CALA Homes (East) Limited says:

“We are delighted to receive planning permission for these three major city developments which will further enhance our excellent portfolio in Edinburgh which currently includes ‘Greenbank Village’ near Morningside, ‘Signature’ in The Grange and ‘Capricorn’ in the city centre. Each of the new developments will similarly offer homebuyers a superb choice of attractive and well-designed accommodation in a desirable location.

“These developments will also provide a boost to the Edinburgh economy by creating much needed private and affordable housing, as well as generating in excess of one hundred jobs over the four to five year development programme.”
