Gullane Houses
Paterson Architects have recently received planning consent for two detached houses on an existing single house plot in Gullane, East Lothian. The site is currently occupied by a one and a half storey 1970s house which sits in the middle of an extensive corner plot. The design brief was to create generous, open, light filled modern family houses, connected to private gardens.
The redevelopment of the site relates to its immediate context by conforming with the existing pattern of individually designed homes in extensive gardens on the north and east sides of Erskine Road. The new site layout responds to the particular qualities of the corner position, with the two houses being symmetrical to one another on the street elevations and set out perpendicular to neighbouring boundaries.
The two-storey houses have flank walls of render contrasting with predominantly glazed end elevations to the street and gardens. A central stair and circulation area articulates two main volumes that contain open plan living accommodation at ground floor level with four or five bedrooms above. The internal area of House 1 is 245m2, House 2 is 280m2.
The property is now being marketed through Simpson Marwick Solicitors.
