The six two-storey houses and twenty-two flats broadly preserve the footprint of the partially-destroyed village: the organic plan marks an antithesis of the New Town formality and hierarchy. Dominant elements of external staircases, expressed roof forms and informal composition of elevations reinterpret Old Town medieval housing. Materials include white rendered walls, Western-Red Cedar boarding, galvanised metal and mesh.
