Dublin Street Housing is located in the Old Broughton Village, a surviving fragment of pre-New Town landscape. ![]() Stair Entry: image from Richard Murphy Architects The six two-storey houses and twenty-two flats broadly preserve the footprint of the partially-destroyed village: the organic plan marks an antithesis of the New Town formality and hierarchy. Dominant elements of external staircases, expressed roof forms and informal composition of elevations reinterpret Old Town medieval housing. Materials include white rendered walls, Western-Red Cedar boarding, galvanised metal and mesh. ![]() Dublin St house layering: image © Adrian Welch The housing is located off the north end of Dublin Street and can also be accessed from Barony Street.
