The Edinburgh construction market remains bouyant with major projects on the waterfront at Leith, Newhaven and Granton. Elsewhere major projects recently completed include the Royal Bank of Scotland HQ and Edinburgh Quay in 2005 and the Scottish Parliament and Weston Link in 2004. Projects due to get moving in 2006 are Quartermile, QMUC, Edinburgh Park Southern Phase and Fountain North.
Waverley: surely a jewel in any architects crown to work on this station's redevelopment. Competition or no, the situation will be keenly observed by all. Edinburgh has to grasp this opportunity and really demand the absolute pinnacle of engineering and sublime architecture. Contacts: as the hits continue to rise fast the architectural community again drags its feet. Many enjoy the site but are yet to support it, and why should they, they didn't ask for it....optimistically the general public however continue to write in from all over the World with positive comments. As the site grows links to websites of organisations not reciprocating or supporting will naturally be reviewed: this process is beginning. In passing the site is still No.1 in the World for 'contemporary architecture' search on the world's most popular search engine, google, and No.1 on the widely-used Microsoft's msn for Edinburgh architects websites. Edinburgh is lucky to 'have' such a site - is the site lucky to 'have' Edinburgh?
