Luxury Scottish Restaurant + Foodmarket +Shop
Edinburgh Store :
Building PR
Ten years after Harvey Nichols launched the first formal destination restaurant
to be situated within a department store, the home of trend setting is
to open Forth Floor Restaurant, Bar & Brasserie on the fourth floor of
its new Edinburgh store.
Opening 15 August 2002, Forth Floor Restaurant,
Bar & Brasserie will feature all the best design elements to be found
across the six restaurants that Harvey Nichols currently owns.
Forth Floor Restaurant will feature Oxo Tower Restaurant, Bar & Brasserie’s
balcony concept along the length of the restaurant providing customers
with striking views of the castle to the left and The Firth of Forth to
the right. Specially designed, non-reflective floor-to-ceiling glass will
also afford diners unimpeded, stunning views at night. Intelligent concealed
lighting which changes throughout the day to mimic the changes in natural
daylight, similar to that found at Prism, will also be introduced.
"The location of our restaurants is paramount. All the restaurants
in the Harvey Nichols portfolio offer our customers stylish surroundings
in stunning locations and Forth Floor Restaurant, Bar & Brasserie
is true to this philosophy," comments the founder and driving force
behind of Harvey Nichols restaurant and food retail business, Dominic
Ford, Restaurants and Food Retail Director.
Forth Floor Restaurant & Brasserie will have 85 and 90 covers respectively.
The bar area will feature a striking underlit bar and seating for approximately
15. The more formal Restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner and the
Brasserie will serve breakfast, lunch, an afternoon menu, as well as dinner.
In the evening, diners will enter the restaurants via a dedicated express
lift situated at the side of the store.
In addition to Forth Floor Restaurant, Bar & Brasserie, the fourth
floor will also have a 3000 sq ft Foodmarket which will sell fresh produce
as well as grocery products with a strong emphasis on locally sourced
product. Products sourced from across the world, and sold exclusively
to Harvey Nichols, as well as Harvey Nichols award-winning own-label range
will be available. There will also be a Wine Shop stocking a wide variety
of interesting, quality wines and spirits.
A Kitchen Shop selling an extensive range of Riedel glassware, top-of-the-range
Wursthöf knives and Alessi products will be a new introduction, exclusive
to Edinburgh, as this has not been featured in other Harvey Nichols locations.
This top-floor space is being created by architects Lifschutz Davidson
- who were responsible for the spectacular designs of Oxo Tower Restaurant,
Bar & Brasserie and Prism Restaurant Restaurant & Bar. Their skill in
maximising the space and light of a venue whilst working with the architectural
space, will be very much in evidence within this new space.
