Edinburgh Buildings Information

We’ve selected what we feel are the key examples of Edinburgh Architecture. We aim to include architectural projects that are either of top quality or interesting, or ideally both. We cover completed buildings, new building designs, architectural exhibitions and architecture competitions across the Scottish capital.

The dome of Old College has for many years been a key element of Edinburgh’s skyline and should remain so. Like London’s St Paul’s, views of it need a bit of protection. It creates a pacific counterpoint to the Hub’s surging spire.

General Register House – housing Scotland’s state records and historical documents – lies at the east end of Princes Street, at the top of Leith Street, opposite the Balmoral Hotel.
