varying scales in association with Malcolm Fraser Architects.
Small

Reaching completion is a small garden in Edinburgh designed to complement
a previous garden room extension by MFA.

The garden design responds to views out from the new garden room and extends
the living space outdoors by means of a granite terrace adjacent to the
building and a timber deck in a remote sunny corner.

The important garden boundaries have been reformed using a combination
of timber screens and a 2 meter high slate filled gabion wall/seat.

The design creates two new spaces; a granite paved patio extending the
garden room level into the garden, this is enclosed with a slate filled
gabion basket and larch screen and new steel and timber bench; the second
space is an elevated timber deck situated in the sunniest corner of the
garden. The gabion wall, a grouping of bamboo and a water sculpture are
lit at night.

Medium
City Design are designing a poetry garden in St. Andrews which will contain
a new poetry centre designed by Malcolm Fraser Architects. The garden
design will transform a long rig, once a botanical garden into a quiet
public space close to the university.
Large
City Design Co-operative are working with MFA on the redesign of the east
and west gardens and the external terraces of the HBOS
Headquarters on the Mound in Edinburgh. Exploratory works to map and
record the root locations of important trees is currently being carried
out to avoid damage during construction works.
