Tall Buildings in Edinburgh : Architecture
Colvin & Moggridge Skyline Study, Scotland
post updated 29 July 2021
Edinburgh Tall Buildings Report 2006
With the Colvin & Moggridge Skyline Study delayed many months in 2006, CEC are now to mount a public consultation exhibition using images of Edinburgh views defined by Colvin & Moggridge as significant, to find out which vistas are key.
But surely there is not the demand in the property market for a significant amount of tall towers given the slowdown in developments, such as Western Harbour and Edinburgh Park in 2006.
Also, unlike London, most of Edinburgh’s revered physical assets – Edinburgh Castle, Calton Hill, Arthur’s Seat – rise above the general townscape and are less likely to be lost than the Tower of London or St Paul’s Cathedral.
Is public consultation integral or merely a skin-deep exercise? More details soon. 090107
