Meadowbank
Meadowbank is a residential and mixed-use area in the east of Edinburgh, about 2 km (1¼ miles) east of the city centre along London Road (A1). It sits north of Holyrood Park and is bordered by Abbeyhill, Lochend, Restalrig, Parsons Green, Jock’s Lodge, and Piershill.
It developed significantly during the Victorian expansion of the city, and some historic structures like Meadowbank Lodge (built in 1858) still stand
Lochend
— Edinburgh, Scotland 🇬🇧
Lochend is a residential area in the east of Edinburgh, forming part of the larger Restalrig district and lying close to Meadowbank, Easter Road, and Craigentinny. It’s known for its mix of housing, green spaces, and historic features — especially the park and loch that give the area its name.
Lochend is primarily a residential neighbourhood made up of 1930s public housing estate blocks, with homes arranged around local roads like Lochend Avenue and Lochend Road.
It lies roughly 2–3 km (1¼–1¾ miles) east of Edinburgh city centre, near the boundary of Restalrig and close to both Meadowbank and parts of Leith.
The area includes a mix of council-owned and privately owned housing, and has experienced different phases of development and demographic change over time.
