Exercises in Timber Patterns: Space and Form
An exhibition by Robin Webster, RGU
11 Dec – 16 Jan 2004
This exhibition is a result of some recent buildings and projects by Robin Webster, and also a record of some thoughts regarding the aesthetics of timber construction.
It includes abstract studies of jointing patterns in cladding, with photographs, drawings and models of buildings and imaginary constructions to explore possible and some impossible architectural ideas. The exhibition is small, personal, and does not pretend to be comprehensive.
Also included in the exhibition is work by sculptor Allan Watson, who teaches at the Gray’s School of Art, Aberdeen. Allan works mostly in timber and has exhibited extensively with his most recent work being for the new childrens hospital in Aberdeen.
Robin Webster is a Fellow of the RIAS, and an Associate of the Royal Scottish Academy. He is Professor of Architecture at the Scott Sutherland School at The Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, where he also has an architectural practice.
