The owners of this Grade I-listed Edinburgh New Town townhouse approached kitchen designer Brian Minns were clear about their brief. “They wanted to install a kitchen that felt as if it was really part of this Georgian property, and that would last another 20 to 30 years,”

Installing a mezzanine floor in this double-height apartment turned it from a one-bed flat into a two-bed home. Finding a property that offered the space and features they were after in the perfect location was a challenge for architect Jonathan Thomas and his wife, particularly as they were first-time buyers.
